2019 Mazda CX-9 vs Honda Pilot
SUVs are a great choice for a safe family car or for drivers who want a vehicle with more room. There are many available options for drivers in Willow Grove, Willow Manor, and Glenside. At Mazda of Abington Mazda, we created this helpful review to compare two of the most popular choices, the Mazda CX-9 and Honda Pilot. Which car will come out on top?
2019 Mazda CX-9 vs Honda Pilot: Performance
Handling is one of the most important aspects when it comes to driving a car. A smoother ride is far more enjoyable and makes hitting the open road a fun experience.
The Mazda CX-9 offers an available intelligent i-ACTIV AWD® system to monitor outside temperatures and road conditions to improve handling in imperfect conditions.
SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS with G-Vectoring Control then takes performance one step further. When the vehicle is cornering, the system will seamlessly adjust power delivery and shift the vehicle’s weight throughout the turn, reducing the need for tiny steering corrections. This system helps to create a smoother ride for both the driver and the passenger.
The Honda Pilot has comparable technology with its Intelligent Variable Torque Traction Management® AWD designed to keep you in control in unfavorable road conditions. However, this technology does not include G-Vectoring Control to aid in cornering and does not monitor outside temperatures to adjust handling accordingly.

When it comes to safety innovations the Mazda CX-9 and Honda Pilot have a lot to offer. Both vehicles have available safety features such as Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Departure Warning System, Lane-keep Assist, and Smart Brake Support with Collision Warning.
Both vehicles also offer Blind Spot Monitoring to detect objects in your blind spots as well as to detect fast-approaching vehicles that may veer into your blind spot. This feature comes standard on the Mazda CX-9 but is only an available feature on the Pilot.
The Mazda CX-9 also features an innovative new technology that the Honda Pilot does not have. Available Traffic Sign Recognition will actually read certain road signs and inform you of them on the Active Driving Display. This added component ensures that you never miss a speed sign, do not enter sign, or a stop sign!
Both SUVs have luxurious interiors complete with leather-wrapped steering wheels and leather-wrapped shift knobs. However, in the Honda Pilot these features are not standard. In the Mazda CX-9 these stylish designs come standard on all trim levels.
In addition to the standard leather accents, the Mazda CX-9 boasts a more sophisticated interior overall than the Pilot. The Mazda CX-9 is upholstered with premium Nappa leather, a more luxurious handstitched leather. It also features genuine Santos Rosewood and sculpted aluminum accents.
The Pilot does not offer these accents, nor does it offer Nappa leather as its available leather seating upgrade. These available details heighten the level of sophistication in the CX-9, creating a more pleasurable driving experience.
2019 Mazda CX-9 vs Honda Pilot: Which is the Winner?
When it comes to SUVs, the Mazda CX-9 and Honda Pilot are at the top of their class. However, in terms of its enhanced performance, extra safety features, and premium interior, the Mazda CX-9 edges out the competition.
